Viaero Wireless Adopts PT's SEGway IP Signaling Solution to Deliver IP Functionality to Its Network

By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

PT is a well known provider of sophisticated network communication solutions across the world. Recently, the company announced that Viaero Wireless has adopted its SEGway Signaling Solutions to deliver vital IP functionality to Viaero's network. Viaero Wireless offers its service to the rural Colorado and Nebraska markets, with countrywide coast-to-coast coverage in North America including Canada and Mexico.

Viaero is upgrading its network using the SEGway IP Signaling Solution which is a considered as a vital factor for its progression to Next-Generation services. As carriers grow and substitute conventional circuit-switched SS7 networks, IP is the chosen signaling infrastructure because it balances to meet the needs of growing traffic demands.

In a release Dan Meininger who is the Network Operations Manager at Viaero Wireless said that 'Viaero promises its customers superior coverage and access anytime. Such a serious commitment means we must deploy proven products throughout our network. The SEGway platform with its strong IP foundation was key to our IP conversion as we undertook the upgrading of all Viaero's switching and service platforms. The enhanced network performance enables Viaero to continue providing next-generation mobile services, as we maintain our competitive edge, both for today and into the future.'

IP-based signaling is able to deliver various benefits over conventional signaling channels. The SigTran associations/links are proficient to deliver much greater bandwidth on a single connection when compared to 56kb/64kb channel or 1.54Mb ATM/HSL (News - Alert) link. Apart from that, it gives full flexibility of interfaces from M2PA and M2UA to SigTran protocols, M3UA and SUA.

In a release Patt Rice who is the Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Service at PT said that 'PT's solutions have always been developed using an IP backbone, making them unique in the industry. Our 'IP-native' innovation, combined with our seasoned team of experts, gives PT a laser focus on creating exactly the right product for the competitive landscape of wireless networks. We are happy to add Viaero Wireless to our ever growing customer list.'

PT is headquartered in Rochester, NY. It provides advanced network communications solutions to carrier, government, and OEM markets. PT offers a unique portfolio that includes IP-centric network elements and applications intended for high availability, scalability, and long life cycle deployments.
