Perceptive Software’s ImageNow enterprise content management (ECM) a.k.a. document management solution has become even more feature-rich: just in time for a rebounding economy that will require more information to be processed faster with fewer resources. ImageNow will also be joining the larger family of Lexmarkproducts, though Perceptive Software will remain separate unit, as part of the former firm’s acquisition of the latter enterprise.
The new ImageNow 6.5 suite’s enhanced built-in and optional tools include:
Records and Information Management (RIM)
Retention Policy Manager (RPM) is a new ECM component that creates time and event-based retention policies that are applied at the document type level. RPM offers comprehensive RIM features such as automated disposition, document transfer, disposition approval, and litigation/audit holds—all within an easy-to-use, interactive user interface.
“Organizations are becoming more aware of the need to effectively manage records and information,” said Stephanie Eaton (News - Alert), Perceptive Software Team Lead of Compliance Solutions.
“While retaining records and information as long as needed is important, it’s also imperative to transfer and dispose of them properly to avoid wasting space and productivity or exposing an organization to legal risk.”
An enhanced ImageNow eForms option makes data collection quick and simple, allowing users to easily gather information to support virtually any business process.
“Customizable forms can now function as standalone documents and take advantage of advanced input validation, form attachments, and content search ability,” said Tony Clark, Perceptive Software Team Lead of Technology Platform. “Plus, eForms fit right into a website or portal so anyone — employees, customers, even non-ECM system users — can complete and submit information with little effort.”
ImageNow 6.5 also supports an optional suite of business intelligence features called Business Insight, which is built for and integrated with ImageNow.
“Business Insight features help measure and display process and user productivity with static reports, dashboards for high-level graphical views of various process and system metrics, and drag-and-drop tools for self-service creation and modification of reports and dashboards,” said Nick Winston, Perceptive Software Team Lead of ECM Products.
Future enhancements of ImageNow will be made possible thanks to the purchase of Perceptive Software by Lexmark for $280 million in cash. The deal gives Lexmark a powerful entrée into the ECM market; Perceptive Software, it says, is one of the fastest growing ECM providers in the market. A key strength and differentiator of the ImageNow software platform is its ability to be quickly and easily configured, and integrated with a large number of ERP, CRM and line-of-business applications.
“Lexmark has been a leader in industry-focused, paper-based workflow solutions for more than 10 years,” said Paul J. Curlander, Lexmark’s chairman and chief executive officer. “The acquisition of Perceptive Software builds upon and strengthens our current industry workflow solutions, and broadens the portfolio of offerings to our current customers including our managed print services customers. This added software platform provides a core component of Lexmark’s strategy to deliver industry-focused document workflow solutions, software and services that lower our customers’ costs and significantly improve their productivity.”
