Plantronics Delivers Keynote, Offers Insight into Innovation at Wearable Tech Expo
Plantronics (News - Alert) is something of a pioneer in wearable technology. Indeed, the company has been developing wearable tech for decades, largely in the form of headsets and other personal audio solutions. Not only has this allowed Plantronics to endow its headsets with wireless capabilities and other advanced features, it has also allowed for advances in on-board sensor technology and exposed APIs — essential aspects of most wearable tech.
Now that Plantronics has moved the headset far beyond its initial capabilities into a wearable device and platform, it's hard to imagine where it will go next. Fortunately, the company is taking part in the Wearable Tech Expo this week, where it will offer a look at some of its essential technological advances, in turn giving some idea of Plantronics' future innovations.

Cary Bran (News - Alert), senior director of innovation and new ventures at PLT Labs, a group within Plantronics, will present these wearable tech advances in a keynote presentation on Thursday, July 25 from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. Tanguy Leborgne, vice president of consumer solutions at Plantronics, will join Bran as well to discuss the underlying advances that make wearable tech possible.
Together, the two will also demonstrate new functionalities currently under development by PLT Labs, which focuses on fostering a community of co-creation with other hardware and software developers, while explaining how the company's sensor-enabled wearable tech are a platform for developers to deliver real-world information to applications.
Bran has already been active during the Wearable Tech Expo, having participated in the "Enterprise Wearable Technology" panel on July 24, during which he demonstrated how sensor-based headset technology is offering innovation in terms of employee productivity.
During the Wearable Tech Expo two-day event, innovators and thought leaders from the wearable devices space come together to provide insight into the market today and in the future.
