The market for wearable technology is steadily growing, several reports out this year all agree that in the next four years we can expect to see somewhere in the neighborhood of six fold growth. Needless to say, a lot of companies want a piece of the action. One company that has had problems jumping into this arena is Intel (News - Alert), however, that seems to be changing. Intel has teamed up with the Fossil Group to create a new line of designer smart wear.
The Phorce Pro is a briefcase that converts into a backpack or messenger bag. We have all seen other bags that pretty much do the same thing, What sets the Phorce Pro apart from those bags is what is inside and what you can do with it. Thanks to what can be described as a massive battery, you can use this wearable device in the form of a bag to charge almost any device that you carry with you.
As some point or another we all want to be unique, unfortunately most of these unique individuals associate with a group that resembles each other a lot! The same can be said for many mobile and wearable devices. Motorola (News - Alert) is attempting to change that by giving the consumer more customizable options so that certain products and better suit the need of the user and not the other way around.
We know Garmin (News - Alert) as a company that produces consumer and professional grade GPS receivers and amazing aviation watches. The problem is that while these devices are incredibly useful with tons of functionality, most of these tend to be on the bulky side. Garmin's sports monitoring efforts have typically resembled bulky wristwatches more than the inconspicuous, new age fitness trackers. That mold is being broken with the release of its vivofit bracelet and the company's new vivosmart.
A question that might be on people’s mind is just how important is the actual device when considering the future of wearables. We have discussed how many devices accomplish the same task but are not very customizable. Vivametrica is a company that analyzes data from wearable sensor devices for the assessment of health and wellness. Read what the company’s president, Scott Valentine, has to say about the subject.
