Latest Appmethod Release Supports IoT and Wearables

Unlike the devices of the past, the Internet of Things (IoT) is changing the way we will experience and interact with everything around our environment. The IoT is going to connect streetlights, parking meters, automobiles, our workplace and homes with the goal of making them more efficient. While the sensors technology deployed around the world to make these devices smarter is impressive, it is the apps that are going to deliver the solutions for thermostats, garage door openers, wearable tech and more. Appmethod, creators of developer tools, frameworks and compilers, has released a development platform with tools to build natively compiled applications for wearable technology and the IoT market.

With this new platform, developers are going to be able to exploit features such as Device AppTethering, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi to work with cloud services and plug-and-play data connectivity to introduce new applications for the IoT.

The new release provides a complete software development solution that gives developers a platform to build natively compiled C++ apps that can connect a wide range of devices including wearables, gadgets, sensors, mobile and desktop devices, cloud services and data.

The FireUI Multi-Device Designer and user interface (UI) gives developers tools to create highly responsive and dynamic designs across any device or form factor. Apps can be created for Android (News - Alert), iOS, Windows and OS X that can interconnect with the IoT via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi app tethering.

The Enterprise Mobility Services (EMS) provides an out-of-the-box app mobility that can be deployed on-premises or into a private cloud with custom APIs such as user authentication, analytics, encrypted embedded and server storage, mobile enterprise SQL database connectivity and custom API management over industry standard REST/JSON.

One of the challenges the Internet of Things will face as it moves forward is the fragmented market in the industry. The entire premise of the IoT is to connect the billions of devices that will be deployed around the world without compatibility issues in the way they communicate. As long as this conflict exists, the optimistic forecasts Cisco (News - Alert) and other companies have predicted will fall short. The new Appmethod development framework is a step in the right direction to avoid those pitfalls.
