While Google (News - Alert) Glass has been banned by entertainment venues such as movie theaters, it seems as though the device has become quite popular among a number of different professional fields. The most recent professional field is the police force in Dubai. The Dubai police force is already one of the best outfitted in the world and now its going high tech. Reuters (News - Alert) is reporting detectives on the Gulf Force will soon be using Google Glass to aid in investigations.
The wearable technology is said to intended to help police identify criminals using the Google Glass to identify criminals with the built in facial recognition software. Traffic cops are already apparently using the device and its only a matter of time before the rest of the police force has these devices at their disposal.
The government in Dubai has long been known as one that throws an awful lot of money at its police force. In addition to using the Google Glass, the police force is already driving Bugati Veyrons and Lamborghini Aventadors. Both of those cars cost more than $350,000 per vehicle. All of this money is being spent on the police force despite the fact that the country is in a bit of a recession and the crime rate is relatively low compared to other countries of its size in the region.
The police force is just one area where Google Glass is coming in handy. There have already been reports of various researchers using the device in areas such as the surgical theater. In this area, there have been a number of reports that wearing the Google Glass while performing surgery has led to faster reaction time from doctors who don’t need to look up at look at monitors during the procedure. As Google Glass ages as a technology, it seems there will only be more uses uncovered for the gadget.
