FitLinxx, a leading health and fitness technology provider, has announced its first foray into the consumer product industry with the AmpStrip, a revolutionary heart and activity monitor.

The AmpStrip is a discrete sensor-filled device that attaches to a user’s torso and continuously tracks data such as heart rate, activity, respiration, body temperature and posture. Intended to be worn all day, every day, the device tracks where its user’s body is in the sleep-recovery cycle by monitoring this data during rest, recovery and sleep in addition to workouts. Thus, consumers are able to improve their athletic performance while minimizing the risk of under- or overtraining.

“Athletes know that heart sensing is the single most important thing they can track to see how their body is performing,” said Dave Monahan, President and CEO of FitLinxx. “AmpStrip is the first of its kind heart and activity tracking monitor outpacing existing products with significantly more accurate data and comfortable 24/7 wear before, during and after exercise. Fitness enthusiasts can lose the chest strap and wristband, staying focused on improving performance while AmpStrip works automatically to provide the information that will help them best reach their goals.”

In addition to being completely waterproof, the device is quite comfortable and uses hypoallergenic, medical-grade adhesive rated to maintain attachment for three to seven days. The wireless rechargeable battery can sustain more than seven days of constant wear before requiring a two to three hour recharge.

All data is tracked automatically without necessitating input from the user, making it truly unobtrusive on one’s lifestyle besides the minor physical aspect of its existence on the body. Data is streamed to a mobile device via Bluetooth 4.0 or can be stored on the AmpStrip itself for later access, fending off connectivity issues that would otherwise arise when a user is not near their phone. An associated app for iOS and Android (News - Alert) will enable communication of data, but the device will be compatible with third-party apps on the market.

Fitlinxx will showcase the AmpStrip in January at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES (News - Alert)) in Las Vegas, where it has been selected as a 2015 Best of Innovation Honoree for outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology products. In this program, products are judged by a panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering across 28 product categories.

The company has not finalized pricing for the AmpStrip but has stated that it will be competitive; the product is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2015.
