Maybe it is due to the fact that the Apple (News - Alert) Watch went on sale yesterday, but it seems that ever since it was announced that most of the wearable news has revolved around smartwatches. With this in mind, are advertisers and marketers drawing into the allure of promoting on smartwatches? According to recent studies being conducted, it would appear that they are.

If you have been following the long drawn out history of the Apple smartwatch, you know that there have been rumors concerning the possible iWatch for many years. In fact, Apple trademarked the name in several countries including Japan, Russia, Turkey, Colombia and Mexico to name a few. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for U.S. trademarks. So which company did file iWatch papers with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office?

We have come a long way from the 1939 and 1964 New York World’s Fairs when we were introduced to the concepts of smart homes. Today, these concepts are becoming reality and many related products are featured at such shows as the Consumer Electronic Show and Mobile World Congress (News - Alert). Will Apple’s iOS be controlling most of these devices? It would appear that there are quite a few products and devices that combine iOS and smart home technology.

Is the BMW Mini Cooper getting a face lift? Maybe that is not the phrase, how about an eye tuck? This comes in the form of goggles that the driver can wear. The Shanghai Motor Show will display a pair of augmented reality goggles that work only with the Mini Cooper.

I always find it interesting to see how different technologies have a tendency of coming together and working hand in hand, or in this case, some phrase that involves the wrist. A great number of people are wearing fitness wrist bands these days. Mostly they are used to count your steps, keep you on track with a training program or tell you the time. Would you be interested in having your fitness band make payments for you? Jawbone thinks that you might like the idea.

These are just of few of the stories that we have looked at this week. Read the details of all of these stories, and find out what else is happening in the world of wearable technology. Go to Wearable Tech World and see what you’ve missed.

If you want some hands-on experience drop by this year’s Wearable Tech Expo at the Jacob Javits Center in July.
