While most people tend to associate augmented reality headsets as being part of their gaming tools, we are beginning to see many more uses for smart glasses. Possibly one of the industries that can see the greatest benefit is in healthcare. Octovis’ portable telemedicine kit now has a new key component, the Vuzix M100.

When it comes to training doctors in the surgical field, it is hard to hold their hand and walk them through procedures. But imagine how much better the training could be if the supervising surgeon could see through your eyes. If both the trainee and the surgeon were wearing Google (News - Alert) Glass equipped with CrowOptic the training surgeon could see exactly what the resident was attempting, hopefully resulting is fewer complications.

It seems that we have a new entry in the augmented reality field this week. FOVE recently launched a Kickstarter campaign. Find out what makes this headset different from the rest of the pack. It is quite possible that reduce a little bit of strain on your neck muscles.

Wearable technology falls under a rather unique category, since it mostly requires that a device has both form and function. Where does Ringly in the spectrum?

In the past, we have seen temporary tattoos and patches that can be used to transmit certain information through a Bluetooth connection. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I am seeing more tattoos lately, but it seems that the fact of the matter is that wearable devices in the form of tattoos are become very popular, visible by the fact that the market is quickly growing.

These are just of few of the stories that we have looked at this week. You should read the details of all of these stories, as well as find out what else is happening in the world of wearable technology. Go to Wearable Tech World and see what you’ve missed.

If you are interested in hands-on experience, or if you just want to see some of the new developments in the world of wearable technology, drop by this year’s Wearable Tech Expo in July. The event will run from July 13, through the 15th at the Jacob Javits Center.
