Comings & Goings: Brad Craig Hired as New Head of Vuzix Developer Relations Program
Vuzix, the manufacturer of the iWear Video Headphones, announced earlier this morning that they have hired Brad Craig to be their Director of Developer Relations. This move comes as Vuzix is looking to increase the production of their Video Headphones in the near future.
Craig comes to Vuzix after a quarter century of helping launch products for a myriad of players in the technology industry, including Compaq and Electronic Arts. “Brad is a consummate professional,” said Vuzix President and CEO Paul Travers. He has “immense knowledge of new product introductions, along with extensive relationships in the gaming industry,” he went on to say.
Vuzix glasses are already compatible with any device that uses an HDMI output (any current DVD player or gaming system), allowing users to watch or play on the equivalent of a 130 inch screen. The devices can already allow users to watch movies in 3D as well as standard, play video game and connect to smartphone applications. Vuzix is also working on improved virtual reality functionality, with a motion tracking function as well as support for the OSVR, Unity 3D, and Unreal gaming engines.
As Vuzix looks to roll out the iWear Video Headphones to consumers on a large scale this October, the hiring of Brad Craig should look to pay large dividends. As Travers pointed out, “content is the key to customer satisfaction and sales, and Brad is already making an impact on the available content coming that will support the Vuzix iWear Video Headphones.” Clearly, Vuzix believes that Craig’s connections within and knowledge of the gaming industry will allow them to expand their reach to many more gaming systems. Should they be able to truly capitalize this hiring, Vuzix could soon become the dominating player in the world of next generation and virtual reality video gaming.
