This is not your father’s data center. Adaptive networking is a notion finding its legs as a means for network operators to support the rigorous demands of the IoT, 5G and the cloud era. Software defined, flexible and automated solutions will drive the future of networking.
CoreSite (News - Alert) announced the arrival of a new and improved Open Cloud Exchange Platform powered by Ciena’s Blue Planet Multi-Domain Service Orchestrator (MDSO). The unveiled platform promises to enhance functionality and new features like improved capacity management capabilities, API functionality as well as support for single port connections to Microsoft (News - Alert) Azure ExpressRoute.
“Innovative data center providers like CoreSite understand the benefit of leveraging advanced software solutions to not only reduce network complexity and costs, but to help accelerate service delivery and provide a best-in-class customer experience. Ciena’s Blue Planet solution accomplishes these goals by providing software control and intelligent automation capabilities that will enable CoreSite’s network providers to truly adapt to rapidly changing IT environments,” said Kailem Anderson, Vice President of Software and Services at Ciena.
With the Ciena Blue Planet MDSO in place, CoreSIte is able to take an exceptional interconnect product and build on its already strong adoption. The MDSO empowers a network operator through a on-demand portal to accelerate interconnect to a number of cloud services. Open Cloud Exchange customers can take advantage of Blue Planet’s automation capabilities to meet fluid bandwidth demands.
"We are excited to work with Ciena’s world class development team to create for our customers an exceptional Open Cloud Exchange upgrade to provide our customers innovative ways to efficiently and effectively customize and optimize their network architecture,” said Brian Warren, Senior Vice President of Product and Engineering at CoreSite. “This new platform will provide our customers with the ability to quickly adapt to new demands, while maintaining full self-service control of network transformation.”
The data center sits at the epicenter of operations, and with business so reliant on network performance operators are key to the adaptive networking evolution.
