The boom in big data, IoT and cloud-based services is upping the ante for network operators to support the requirements of the digital age. Those answering the bell are adopting an adaptive networking approach to deliver networks the on-demand, high capacity performance.
Sify (News - Alert), an ICT that provides end-to-end solutions via its telecom data network, announced networks enhancements with the deployment of Ciena’s converged packet optical solutions. Serving more than 1,400 cities and towns in India, Sify can now scale network capacity from 100G to 400G to quench the heavy bandwidth demands of modern operators.
“The elasticity of our network to support multi-cloud, multi-data center scenarios and its programmability to monitor, control and adapt to meet user demands in real-time is critical. Ciena’s understanding of our network infrastructure and their clarity in where and how we would benefit from integrating their solutions for more flexibility and scale in the network, especially in the context of data center/cloud driven east-west traffic, made them the right fit for our growth plans,” explained Daniel Alex, President Telecom Business, Sify Technologies Limited.
The transformation comes as a result of a number of Ciena components. The Waveserver Ai and 6500 Packet-Optical Platforms enable Sify to support large capacities of traffic in metro networks. Powered by WaveLogic Ai coherent technology, operators can program the network to meet fluctuating service requirements. Adaptive networking at work to deliver on its OTT provider, healthcare organization and financial service institution customer requirements.
Ciena’s PinPoint software can diagnose trouble spots, proactively reducing risk of outages and accelerating repair. Taking network management a step further, the deployment also included CIena’s Blue Planet Manage, Control and Plan (MCP) software, which provides real time insight and control of the network.
“As Sify Technologies supports more users, digital applications and connected things across India, they face the challenge of adapting to the demands being placed on their network. Ciena is committed to supporting Sify Technologies through its extensive experience and expertise, to deliver a more programmable infrastructure aided by software control and analytics to respond to changing network demands intuitively,” noted Ryan Perera, Vice President and General Manager, Ciena India.
Our real time worlds always seems to want more. And much like Veruca Salt, customers want it now. Adaptive networking delivers and then some for operators. Just ask Sify.
