Today kicks off MEF18, bringing together myriad innovation at hand in the networking world. Running through November 2 the event is chock full of industry experts leading sessions and walking attendees through demonstrations of next generation networking technologies.
Web-scale networking whiz Ciena is taking part in a number of sessions (see below) and showing off its robust adaptive networking arsenal, with the Blue Planet portfolio center stage in a number of Proof of Concept demonstrations.
The MEF18 Networking Hall is hosting three PoCs for Ciena this week. Performed by Vodafone (News - Alert), DGIT and Ciena’s Blue Planet team will be pocket-sized model-driven networks. Multi-domain, application-defined global interconnection orchestration is on display by the Blue Planet team in conjunction with AT&T and Equinix (News - Alert). The third PoC involves Zayo and Ciena’s Blue Planet team demonstrating self-service, agile, orchestrated CloudLink.
Tuesday, October 30
- 11:15 a.m. PT – Kevin Sheehan, Chief Technology Officer of the Americas, will host an executive presentation, titled Network Automation (News - Alert): What Have We Learned During the Past 3 Years?
Wednesday, October 31
- 10:10 a.m. PT – Kevin Sheehan, Chief Technology Officer of the Americas, will participate in a panel session: Success Stories – Building Automated, Virtualized & Interconnected Networks Powered by LSO, SDN and NFV.
- 3:40 p.m. PT – Marco Naveda, Principal in the Office of the CTO, will participate in a panel session: Multi-Domain, Application-Defined Advanced Global Interconnection Orchestration.
The future of the network is still a work in progress, but network operators can expect intelligence, adaptive components enabling the performance required for the modern age and beyond.
