JDSU recently announced the launch of an industry-first communications test solution over its Optical Network Test (ONT) platform for service providers and network equipment manufacturers. Leveraging the test solution, users will be able address instances of dropped calls and poor video quality over 4G/LTE and mobile backhaul networks caused by Ethernet synchronization issues. The company is a global provider of optical products and test and measurement solutions for the communications industry.

Huawei Technologies has launched two new wireless broadband solutions called the ARU (Adaptive Radio Unit) and the AtomCell. The newly launched solutions are now part of Huawei's GigaSite range.

With the increasing popularity of mobile devices, especially smartphones and tablets, comes increasing demands for data over mobile networks. One way carriers have found to cope is by deploying small cells. NEC has announced plans for wireless backhaul for small cell networks.
