According to a recent announcement made by Symmetricom, Inc. and Telco Systems (News - Alert), the latter has selected former's embedded solution for their mobile backhaul applications. The solution chosen by Telco Systems support IEEE 1588v2 PTP standard and will ensure the delivery of precise timing and synchronization over packet-based networks.

"Rigorous tests have shown that the combined Telco Systems and Symmetricom solution using 1588v2 technology provides a resilient and scalable packet-based mobile backhaul solution which meets legacy TDM performance," stated Nir Halachmi, MBH Product Line Manager for Telco Systems, in a press release. "By partnering with Symmetricom (News - Alert), we provide operators with a highly reliable and accurate clock synchronization mechanism, and enable them to expedite deployments and deliver a proven and cost effective time synchronization solution that fits their network needs."

Symmetricom plays a key role in timing and synchronization for wired and wireless networking products that adhere to the IEEE 1588v2 PTP standard. To support precise timing and synchronization requirements for 4G LTE (News - Alert) deployments, Symmetricom formed SyncWorld Ecosystem Program that represents all elements of the mobile value chain from embedded to network equipment manufacturers. Telco Systems will work closely with other SyncWorld partners to conform to pre-defined interoperability parameters that will speed deployment of LTE and 4G networks.
