According to Cisco, USA’s fourth largest cable operator, Charter Communications (News - Alert), has deployed Cisco CRS-3 Carrier Routing System and Cisco ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers. The deployment will help the leading communications and entertainment services provider to deliver enhanced video, data, voice and mobile backhaul services to residential and commercial customers.

In a press release, Cisco clarified that the latest deployment will help Charter meet with increased bandwidth requirements, including 100 Gigabit Ethernet, protecting its infrastructure investment and readying it for future video needs and advanced business services.

The investment on Cisco (News - Alert) CRS-3 and Cisco ASR 9000 Series Routers is expected to help Charter to stay ahead in the market, typically characterized by increasing demands for both video and advanced collaboration applications. Thanks to the best-of-class Cisco Internet Protocol Next-Generation Network (IP NGN), the residential customers will now be able to enjoy personalized viewing experiences from all types of content sources.

The Cisco ASR 9000 includes unique video capabilities, such as high-performance multicast, integrated content caching, in-line video performance monitoring, and zero-loss video transport technology.  

Based on Cisco IOS XR software operating system, the Cisco ASR 9000 and Cisco CRS-3 work together to simplify network operations while enabling comprehensive system redundancy and network resiliency.

Last week, Charter announced that NFL Network and Charter Communications ended a long dispute by sealing a deal on carrying the station, and according to the agreement, It now has arrived on Charter’s network’s Channel 417. It's available to customers who buy the sports tier or "digital view plus" package, the cable operator announced in an earlier release.
