In its new report, titled, “Mobile Broadband Policy and Traffic Management - Industry Consolidation Coming?,” Strategy Analytics (News - Alert) explains why this is the right time for the mobile broadband policy and traffic management partnerships and mergers.
In this report, Strategy Analytics analyzed twelve independent vendors that deliver high performance policy solutions and represent investment opportunities: Allot, Arbor Networks, Bridgewater now AMDOCS, Broadhop, Bytemobile, Cisco, Openet, Procera, Continuous Computing (News - Alert) now Radisys, Sandvine, Tekelec and Volubill. Also, several vendors have already been acquired by larger vendors, such as Camiant by Tekelec and Starent by Cisco (News - Alert), the report stated.
Sue Rudd, director, Service Provider Analysis, noted, “Many of these players already partner with each other – and with traditional equipment manufacturers – in order to deliver complete solutions for mobile operators. As service providers race to optimize capacity that will satisfy mobile broadband demand, policy management has changed from a passive network tool to a strategic business weapon. To meet operator needs, players may need to team up permanently to integrate and test high performance solutions.”
Experts believe that there are three areas where new capabilities will demand consolidation. They include billing for real time pricing and billing options; applications, media and video optimization; and personalization for new mobile data services. Players may need to team up permanently to integrate and test high performance solutions that can increase capacity by 50 percent at a fraction of the cost of new infrastructure to meet operator needs.
Recently, the company conducted a user evaluation of the Chrysler Uconnect infotainment system. The current Strategy Analytics Automotive Consumer Insights benchmark report evaluates the user experience for entertainment, navigation and other features that were present in the new Chrysler Uconnect. Voice interfaces were of paramount importance for such complex tasks and Uconnect needed to introduce the voice interface capability to help drivers safely interact with music and navigation features while driving.
