Positron Access, a supplier of carrier Ethernet over bonded copper solutions for Business services and Mobile / DSLAM backhaul, announced the trial deployment of FlexStream 800 that delivers up to 800 Mbps Ethernet over copper at real life service distances.
In a release Claude Brisson, chief operating officer for Positron Access said, “With the global success of the Positron Aktino (News - Alert) product line, which pioneered 100 Mbps over copper, Positron embarked on an extensive development effort to further enhance its Ethernet over copper capabilities.”
“With FlexStream 800, we have cemented our leadership in providing the highest bandwidth available on bonded copper. Service providers can now expand their footprint and their range of services offered,” Brisson added.
According to officials the FlexStream 800 is undergoing deployment trials at Tier 1 customer locations and it serves as a disruptive solution that delivers ultra high-speed business Ethernet services and LTE (News - Alert) wireless site backhaul.
It is expected that FlexStream 800 expands Positron’s Aktino Ethernet over copper solution, allowing service providers to easily deliver bandwidth over the existing copper infrastructure. This saves a lot of time and money as it eliminates long expensive schedules involving the deployment of fiber facilities.
Also Aktino ensure high levels of reliability like fiber and caters to the needs of demanding requirements of wireless service providers. Service providers will now be able to provide the required bandwidth for customers cost effectively.
Positron’s FlexStream 800 serves as a suitable solution for bandwidth intensive business services and LTE backhaul. The current Positron Aktino family of products will be offering long reach performance up to 100 Mbps with line powering for SMB business services, DSLAM backhaul and 3G/Metro mobile backhaul.
Officials added that the product line’s high performance capabilities and flexibility have encouraged North American and European carriers to select Positron Access’ solution to use the existing copper infrastructure.
Hossam Salib, VP of Product Management and Marketing for Positron Access explained that the FlexStream 800 synergizes the company’s MIMO-on-DMT (News - Alert) technology with VDSL2 vectoring to offer Ethernet over copper at optimum rates.
“We now offer a true multi-service, symmetric/asymmetric bonded copper solution that provides bandwidths ranging from 100 Mbps to 800 Mbps at reaches from 1,000 to 65,000 feet, all from the same product platform,” Salib emphasized.
In related company news, Positron announced in early 2011 that independent telecommunications company Kalama Telephone has deployed Positron’s flagship AK525 eight pair MIMO-on-DMT Carrier Ethernet product to deliver high-speed premium data services to their residential and small and medium business (SMB) customers.
