Alvarion (News - Alert) Ltd. is one of the leading providers of optimized wireless broadband solutions that take care of the connectivity, capacity and coverage challenges faced by both public and private networks. The company recently announced that it has successfully completed the acquisition of privately-held Wavion, which was earlier announced on November 2, 2011.
In a release, Eran Gorev, President and CEO of Alvarion, said, “The acquisition of Wavion will enable us to address the market for carrier-grade WiFi (News - Alert), one of the fastest growing segments of telecom equipment, with advanced technology designed specifically to serve the most demanding applications of both public and private networks. We are pleased that we were able to close the acquisition quickly and will focus on rapid integration to leverage our combined strengths. We continue to expect the acquisition to be accretive to non-GAAP earnings beginning in Q2 of 2012.”
This acquisition will now enable Alvarion to further use its extensive experience in providing carrier-grade solutions to help create a special combination of multi-technology capabilities which can be optimized for various types of networks and applications.
Wavion is a specialist in outdoor WiFi applications for metro and rural areas and has deployments in more than 75 countries. The company’s headquarters is located in Yoqne’am Israel and its branch offices are located in a number of countries including offices in the U.S., India, China, Philippines, Singapore, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Africa and Russia.
