NETGEAR Introduces Its New NETGEAR Wireless Extreme That Supports Both Macs and PCs

The presence of a variety of hardware and software platforms often leads to issues among different solutions and their compatibility with these platforms. Enterprises have been developing new solutions that can successfully address these challenges and enable the users to enjoy seamless experience across a number of devices and systems.

NETGEAR, Inc., a company that offers innovative products to consumers, businesses and service providers, has launched its latest router for both Mac and Windows platforms. The company develops high performance, dependable and easy to use home networking, storage and digital media products to connect people with the Internet and their content and devices.

Known as NETGEAR Wireless Extreme for Mac and PC, the new solution is the first home router offered by the company that is equipped with Mac-specific capabilities such as native support for Apple’s (News - Alert) Time Machine back-up software and Bonjour automated networking technology. Apart from it, the device also features enhanced speed and range, something it shares with the recent consumer routers introduced by NETGEAR.

In addition to Apple devices such as iPhones and iPads, both Mac and Windows based computers are likely to be found in homes of most of company’s customers. It has developed the Wireless Extreme with an aim to provide a smooth and seamless solution to the users. Apart from the enhanced features that are found in other routers offered by NETGEAR such as parental controls, DLNA compatible media streaming, a broadband usage meter and simultaneous dual-band wireless performance, the Wireless Extreme has also been equipped with a new functionality.

Named NETGEAR’s Genie, the new feature is a dashboard-style application that enables users to execute comprehensive router and network management in a convenient way. It can be installed without a CD and is compatible with Mac based technologies such as Time Machine and Bonjour.

“Consumers live in a multiplatform world of Macs, PCs, iPads, iPhones, smartphones, and tablets. NETGEAR’s new Wireless Extreme combines the best of all of these worlds in a single, powerful networking product that also adds Mac-specific features previously available only in Apple’s networking products,” said Som Pal Choudhury, NETGEAR director of product marketing. “For the first time, Mac users can purchase a high performance router with NETGEAR’s advanced technology features, while PC users can deploy a home network that makes it easy to integrate Macs and enjoy all of their unique network capabilities.”

In August 2011, NETGEAR, Inc. announced its N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router – Premium Edition available for customers across the globe. The device had been designed to provide connectivity which was previously restricted to only the most expensive wireless routers. The router had also been enabled to support private cloud file sharing through NETGEAR’s new ReadySHARE Cloud service.
