Transition NIDs Enable Robust Wireless Backhaul

Last year, Transition Networks' (News - Alert) ION Network Interface Devices (NIDs) earned the company Metro Ethernet Forum certification. Transition provides networking and wireless backhaul solutions that are performing with greater reliability and speed due to the company's continued quality improvement.

According to this Transition page, the provider delivers carrier-grade Ethernet services and wireless backhaul solutions that are scalable, which helps the Metro Ethernet market to change the way communications are perceived.

Transition's NIDs help companies troubleshoot and stay on top of service level agreements. This is made more reliable by Transition Networks NIDs that carry the latest IEEE (News - Alert) and ITU standards. These technological advances help assure that not only troubleshooting needs are met, but that monitoring needs are met as well.

Bandwidth allocation and quality of service features are inherent in Transition NIDs to help companies provide tiered services to customers, which can generate revenue. Transition's wireless backhaul and remote management capabilities allow companies to upgrade services for customers while keeping the technicians at headquarters, and without having to replace infrastructure.

As service providers are looking for new ways to stand out with their Ethernet services, Transition is finding ways to share LAN and WAN protocols, helping providers increase revenues. Transition's intelligent demarcation delivery assures reliability through its NIDs, which provide capital and operational savings while offering tiered services.

The NIDs give service providers remote management capabilities, as well, including remote troubleshooting and SLA monitoring. Through NIDs, service providers are able to take advantage of more revenue possibilities that today's consumers are demanding.

Remote monitoring offered by Transitions takes into account that service providers can't all function under one remote monitoring solution – basically, no two are alike. That's why Transitions offers various classes of remotely managed devices.

Particular to the wireless backhaul or mobile backhaul operations is Transition NIDs certified MEF (News - Alert) 9, MEF 14, MEF 21 and remotely managed x2220 NID, x3220 NID and S3240 multi-port stand alone NID. They are each engineered for business Ethernet and wireless backhaul applications. They are also part of the company's ION products.

Iometrix (News - Alert), Inc., an independent lab that tests wireless backhaul technologies and other telecommunications technologies, ran the battery of tests on Transition's NIDs. Iometrix carries out tests on services and equipment. The tests are performed in the field at a variety of sites representing the coverage area of the service provider.

One thing that can be said about Transition's ION line of products is that they are high-density and intelligent multiprotocol systems. As a result, providers today can rely on a more robust infrastructure to support their solutions.
