SES (News - Alert), a source of satellite communications services, recently won a contract from 2DAY Telecom, a VimpelCom subsidiary and a major provider of voice and data services throughout Kazakhstan.
SES’ materials appeal to broadcasters, content and internet service providers, mobile and fixed network operators and business and governmental organizations worldwide.
2DAY Telecom is currently expanding its reach to meet the growing needs of GSM backhaul services throughout Kazakhstan, and signed a long-term capacity agreement with SES . Under the agreement, 2Day will leverage SES’ NSS-12 satellite to deliver mobile communication services over challenging mountainous terrain in Kazakhstan.
NSS-12 will also be used to provide top quality telephone service to meet the country's growing GSM demands.
Mobile communication is one of the fastest growing sectors in Kazakhstan, but the rough terrain of the country poses a natural barrier to the expansion of telecom infrastructure of the country. Under the circumstances, satellite remains the only viable answer.

“As mobile communications continues to be the one of the fastest growing sectors in Kazakhstan; satellite is being established as one of the most reliable forms of infrastructure that can overcome geographical barriers and provide extensive coverage,” said Viktor Gryban, CEO at 2DAY Telecom. “NSS-12's high-powered, dedicated beam provides excellent coverage over Kazakhstan, allowing us to expand our services into new regions within the country.”
The VimpelCom Group, 2DAY Telecom’s parent company, has a global presence in the voice and data services market, through a range of wireless, fixed and broadband technologies its provides to Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Georgia, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Vietnam and Cambodia.
