Wi-Fi Access, No Longer Just a 'Luxury'

With shopping malls and markets inundated with a medley of devices, and social media and shopping apps being escalated in stature, Wi-Fi is in great demand. In fact, it’s gone from a “nice to have” option to being a “must have amenity.”

Cloud Nine Media and DragNFly Wireless are bent on using this to their advantage, and are working together to bring free, unlimited Wi-Fi access to certain select malls across the country, while allowing advertisers to deliver targeted offers.

While Cloud Nine Media lets advertisers access Wi-Fi free for 30 seconds of positive, brand-safe engagement with millions of tech-savvy Wi-Fi users in public hotspots worldwide, DragNFly Wireless is expected to let brands provide easy-to-use Wi-Fi for their customers.

Airports and hotels are places where people like to sit down and catch up on one's work or discuss issues, while malls are locations ideal for shopping and taking short breaks either to eat or chat. At these times, the audience doesn't mind looking and listening to relevant and useful advertising.

Cloud Nine's acquired ability to run retail Wi-Fi sponsorship programs for advertisers, coupled with DragNFly's Wireless' Wi-Fi capabilities, is a powerful combination that can drive foot traffic and transactions for both mall tenants and national brands.

Sebastian Tonkin, CEO at Cloud Nine, noted that more than $230 billion is spent in shopping centers in the country every year, and observed that with more shoppers connecting to Wi-Fi as they shop, the opportunity for retail Wi-Fi sponsorship is tremendous.

With more mobile devices in the market, more people relying on them while shopping and access to Wi-Fi increasing, advertisers across many industries can work with Cloud Nine to reach some of the millions of American adults that seem to throng the malls every month.

Malls, shoppers, Wi-Fi hotspots and advertising – Cloud Nine and DragNFly just need to connect the dots properly to make it work for them.

TMCnet reported that the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED program, initiated by Wi-Fi Alliance (News - Alert) (alliance of hundreds of leading companies) in 2000, offers widely-recognized designation of interoperability and quality. It also helps to ensure that Wi-Fi-enabled products deliver the best user experience.
