Cal Selects Ciena's 4200 Advanced Services Platform

A flexible multiservice metro optical network addresses the myriad services end users are demanding, whether interconnecting routers, data centers, or delivering high-end enterprise connectivity. In addition, these services must have full transparency and granular service level management that makes sure that customers get the performance they require—and the ability to satisfy the mission-critical needs of the end-user applications.

Realizing this, Cal (Israel Credit Cards Ltd) has selected Ciena and its BizConnect Platinum partner, Telrad (News - Alert) to build a high-capacity, low-latency private optical network connecting its new data center in Yehud to its main facilities in Giv’atayim.

The metro network was recently installed in a rapid timeframe and it allows Cal to solve business growth challenges and local disaster recovery requirements. The company can also avoid the need to make use of expensive leased connectivity. To support two 10G Ethernet and four 4G Fiber Channel connections between the data centers, Ciena’s 4200 Advanced Services Platform is being used by Cal, the company stated in a press release.

“Financial organizations operate in a highly-regulated and fast-paced environment, with requirements likely to increase as regulators across the globe focus on data recovery, security and business continuity concerns,” said Eric Sele, vice president of sales for Southern and Central Europe, Middle East and Africa at Ciena. “With Ciena’s technology, Cal can be ahead of the competition in today’s volatile business environment and easily adapt its network to meet future requirements, from higher capacity to in-flight encryption.”
