MicroPower Technologies, Inc., a provider of surveillance solutions optimized for rapid, cost-effective deployment, recently announced that it will now leverage Sprint’s (News
- Alert) network as an additional channel to transmit wireless video. The agreement with Sprint has strengthened MicroPower’s wireless capabilities.
MicroPower offers Rugged-i, a fully self-contained, solar-powered wireless outdoor video camera which allows for placement practically anywhere because it is not constrained by wires or cables. The MicroPower wireless architecture was designed from the ground up to overcome reliability and video quality issues typical of standard wireless IP camera designs and to operate efficiently under congested wireless environments. These features result in significantly lower installation and acquisition costs over solutions that require trenching or large external solar panels.
"MicroPower's advanced technology, combined with Sprint's expansive wireless mobile network, allows cameras to be placed virtually anywhere at a fraction of the cost of conventional surveillance systems," said Jon Siann, founder and CEO, MicroPower Technologies. "Our partnership with Sprint allows us to exceed customer expectations by enabling them to reinforce the security perimeter and extend protection, while promising high reliability through wireless transmission and immediate system deployment."
Also, MicroPower offers MiniHub, an indoor central hub, which is integral to the Helios Solar Wireless Surveillance System. It receives video and data from one to six MicroPower Rugged-i cameras and acts as the centralized traffic coordinator between a wired LAN and the camera(s). Together, the MiniHub and the Rugged-i truly eliminates the need for wires for both power and data. The MiniHub incorporates MicroPower’s TrustLinx technology, a proprietary protocol which allows for efficient use of video transport, enabling reliable connection, even in heavily congested wireless environments.
MicroPower’s video surveillance solutions provide the scalability and flexibility to meet today’s security challenges, while empowering systems integrators and installers in providing a unique value proposition for their customers. MicroPower solutions are ideal for a range of market applications and can be implemented virtually anywhere they are needed.
