Recently, AirNet Ltd., a local ISP in Bulgaria, installed Alvarion's (News - Alert) carrier-grade Wi-Fi solution for providing wireless connectivity at the Albena Resort area and the coast of the Black Sea in Bulgaria.

These days, users expect reliable Wi-Fi services anytime and anywhere, indoors or outdoors with the widespread adoption of smartphones, iPhones, iPads and the like. Alvarion’s carrier-grade Wi-Fi solution is ideal for any connectivity, coverage and capacity requirements, whether the user is offering a Wi-Fi service for business or residential building, a municipality, hotel or educational campus.

More than two kilometers long, the wide-area installation makes use of Alvarion’s two-way Beamforming Wi-Fi base stations. Apart from outdoors, large park areas, recreational facilities and along the beach front, it enables coverage both indoors, in lobby areas and rooms at approximately 30 hotels, conference facilities and restaurants.

Allowing users to use applications such as e-mail, video, image transfer, social networking and Internet browsing, the Wi-Fi network reportedly allows business customers and vacationers with smartphones, tablets and notebooks to connect to the Internet at a speed of 500 Kbps to 2 Mbps.

Recently, the company announced it will deliver broadband equipment to Muscatine Power & Water, a not-for-profit utility in Muscatine, Iowa, to connect communications clients. The company chose not to disclose the size of the contract. Since 2001, Muscatine Power & Water has been an Alvarion client.
