Chances are, if you’re a person that’s keeping current with today’s technology, you’ve experienced wireless solutions on a daily basis. From the smartphone you use for work to the tablet device that you play games on, there’s a lot of communicating that goes on. Most of us don’t really think about what happens behind the scenes with wireless technology, and that’s where Streakwave (News - Alert) comes in.
The company is a wireless distributor, meaning it provides the products that wireless companies use to make wireless communication happen. From bridge kits to cable, phone systems to routers, amplifiers and backhaul radios, Streakwave powers those who power wireless broadband.
Earlier this year, the company announced a distribution agreement with Aruba Networks (News - Alert) for enterprise Wi-Fi, network management, and access control products. Under the agreement, Streakwave will focus on Aruba Instant, a plug-and-play, secure, multimedia-ready Wi-Fi solution targeted at small-to-medium enterprises (SME), small-to-medium businesses (SMB), and a wide range of vertical markets, as well as Aruba AirWave (News - Alert) Network Management, which provides end-to-end management of multivendor, multisite networks including user location and mapping, real-time monitoring, proactive alerts, historical reporting, and troubleshooting aides.
Among other partnership deals, Streakwave has inked include Radwin, Moog Videoalarm and Laird Technologies (News - Alert), of which the company is a distributor.
Wireless power is not a new technology, but it has come a long way in its own evolution in the communications space. Consumers have a single, globally accepted solution for powering different devices with different power needs across a wide range of brands, all of which have one common denominator, and that is wireless.
Advances in wireless technology make it very attractive for extending the Internet - either across the street or to the next town. Wi-Fi is fast, can go long distances, and is very affordable. Thinking about the future, this means wireless has a place pretty much everywhere.
“The ability to use wireless is expanding into areas like IP network security, which means you can put cameras just about anywhere, or voice equipment just about anywhere and take care of the needs of security. There are people using it for voice over Internet protocol, or VoIP phones. Pretty much the trend is to use wireless wherever it can be used, which is pretty vast,” said Richard Bernhardt, senior director of marketing for Streakwave in an interview with TMCnet.
