DASAN's Enhanced FTTx Products to be Displayed at FTTH 2012

The Korean fiber solutions company, DASAN Networks, Inc., announced it is going to showcase the complete line of its OLTs, ONTs, Layer 2 and 3 switches, along with mobile backhaul over fiber products at this year’s FTTH show in Dallas, TX. DASAN’s advanced Layer 3 FTTP platform will also be showcased with its many enhanced features.


The company is occupying booth #453 at the show from September 23-27, 2012.

DASAN Networks develops carrier-grade network and customer access solutions for high-speed data, voice, video, and wireless services over FTTP (Fiber-to-the-Premise) networks. Its offering includes PON, Ethernet switching, mobile backhaul and advanced routing solutions along with a range of terminal devices. The company serves the carrier and enterprise market with more than five million ONTs deployed worldwide.

With an aim to enable its customers with to offer their subscribers Triple Play (News - Alert) Services over fiber, DASAN has introduced a number of enhancements to its family of fiber solutions.

To meet the strong demand for two-way RF video services supporting VOD and OTT (over the top) services for digital cable services, DASAN added new RF return capability to its H640R indoor residential ONT, H695R outdoor residential ONT, as well as its V1916GR/V1908RT MDU gateway. RF return provides an IP return path over GPON.

These products with RF return functionality can support up to 16 living units from a single indoor or outdoor rack mounted chassis, DASAN said in a statement.

In addition to RF return, DASAN also enhanced the H640GW indoor GPON ONT with the integration of 802.11 b/g/n wireless functionality. This enables DASAN customers to offer wireless home networking from the ONT to their subscribers.

DASAN has also enhanced V8240 Layer 3 FTTx platform. With the introduction of new Gigabit Active Ethernet line card support for the product. V8240, which already supports GPON, now supports Active Ethernet for carrier Ethernet and business services, along with residential applications. DASAN’s H695 outdoor ONT features a selectable GPON or Active Ethernet uplink, the company explained.

“With the introduction of these new products, DASAN demonstrates its responsiveness to customer and market needs. Our goal is to provide a portfolio of FTTx solutions tailored to the needs of customers at highly competitive prices,” said Aaron Carson, director of Product Line Management for DASAN, in a statement.

In other news, DASAN announced a major expansion of its U.S. business operations. Dasan Networks USA, a California corporation, recently opened a new office in Santa Clara, California, and has signed a lease for a larger headquarters location in Suwanee, GA
