Corning (News - Alert) MobileAccess was ranked the No.1 distributed antenna systems (DAS) vendor for the in-building wireless market by ABI Research’s Competitive Assessment report last month. Corning MobileAccess (News - Alert) is part of Corning Incorporated’s (GLW)Telecommunications segment.

“We’re extremely excited to be named the top-rated DAS vendor by ABI Research (News - Alert), one of the most-respected technology market intelligence firms,” said Mike Genovese, SVP, Wireless Networks and New Business Development, Corning Cable Systems.

Genovese added that the company aims to provide carriers and their customers with top-flight, in-building wireless solutions that fit specific venue types and that the recognition is a testament to the company’s innovative approach.

Major locations throughout the United States currently utilize Corning MobileAccess’ DAS. Earlier this year, the company’s technology was selected to provide “always-on” wireless coverage to several sites throughout Indianapolis, including Lucas Oil Stadium for Super Bowl XLVI.

Corning MobileAccess was the primary DAS provider at International CTIA (News - Alert) WIRELESS 2012. Most recently, it was installed in key locations throughout Tampa and Charlotte to support both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, as well as in major hotels, hospitals, sports venues and other locations across the country.

Corning MobileAccess has introduced several new solutions to its family of products over the course of the past year. Recently, the company launched a high-power, 40-watt DAS remote unit known as MobileAccessGX for campuses as well as outdoor, open-air, and underground environments.

Also released was a 2-watt remote solution known as MobileAccessHX, ideal for open indoor areas such as airports, high rises and parking garages. Corning MobileAccess’s investments in its next generation of DAS solutions is the result of its continuous commitment to innovation.

Aditya Kaul, Practice Director of Mobile Networks at ABI Research furthermore added that, “Corning Mobile Access brings together the ability to offer both cabling and innovative DAS solutions. This approach places Corning MobileAccess as a top contender in the in-building wireless solutions market.”
