Integra Telecom (News - Alert) has introduced its VPN Wireless Backup service, further expanding its business continuity and disaster recovery solutions portfolio.
Integra’s Wireless Backup service ensures that the critical business applications maintain connectivity through immediate and seamless connection to the Verizon Wireless (News - Alert) network. The secure wireless connection is designed to fail-over immediately during a wireline outage.
Businesses can rely on Integra's Wireless Backup to get protection against network disruptions, while also ensuring continuity of services on immediate basis. Wireless Backup is an alternate access method that provides redundancy for Integra’s VPN Solutions Layer-3 network nodes. In the event of a wireline failure, the router will automatically switch traffic from the wireline connection to the wireless connection. When the wireline connection is restored, the router automatically restores connectivity back across the wireline connection.
"Maintaining network connectivity is paramount for businesses," said Joe Harding, senior vice president of marketing at Integra. "Customers such as retail businesses, multi-location enterprises and healthcare organizations depend on our network for the continuity of their business-critical applications. With our VPN Wireless Backup, Integra customers have a more complete range of reliable options to keep their businesses connected and secure."
The wireless backup system also offers security using IPsec, allowing network data to pass through a wireless connection while remaining securely encrypted. Users can also use Integra's Cloud Firewall Service, supported over Wireless Backup, providing additional security from malware threats.
"Integra customers can now employ the world-class Verizon Wireless network as an attractive alternative to wired corporate network connections," said Bobby Morrison, regional president for Verizon Wireless. "The Verizon Wireless network is an ideal flexible back-up platform that can be quickly and cost-effectively employed to handle critical business applications."
The company is currently offering the Wireless Backup to its VPN customers nationwide.
