Xtera's 100G Nu-Wave Optima Certified for Russian Telecommunications Networks

Nu-Wave Optima is a next-generation, multi-purpose optical transport system from Xtera Communications (News - Alert). The product considerably decreases the cost of highly scalable optical networks. According to the company, the Nu-Wave Optima system is among the industry’s most advanced optical transport platform. It brings together soft-decision FEC at the 100G interface card level and innovative line equipment to face different spans and links configuration.


Recently, the company announced that its Nu-Wave Optima is now certified to be installed in Russian backbone networks. According to the company, the product now completely complies with the laws of the Russian telecommunications authorities.

As more and more companies look to deploy long-distance optical transmission infrastructures all over Russia and Central Asia, Xtera's Nu-Wave Optima can be the perfect choice for this purpose. With the help this product, backbone network operators can easily address traffic increase.

Russian operators will now get the 100G solution with Xtera's Nu-Wave Optima. It also provides features such as soft-decision Forward Error Correction (FEC) and a line capacity of 15 Tb/s on more than 3,000 km.

Recently, Columbus Networks announced a partnership with Xtera Communications to provide 100G in the Pan-American Caribbean region
