Ceragon Receives Orders Worth $6.5M for Mozambique Wireless Networks

Ceragon (News - Alert) Networks Ltd., a wireless backhaul specialist, recently announced that Mozambique Cellular has given the company orders worth $6.5 million. According to officials from Ceragon, the company will be responsible for expanding the carrier's microwave network.


Ceragon will also be responsible for upgrading access links nationwide, providing the only broadband connection available for millions of Mozambicans.

"Over the past two years Ceragon's backbone network has successfully served therequirements of our market throughout Mozambique," said Mohamed Mussa, technical directorof mcel. "As a result of our expanding customer base and its increasing dependency onmobile, we looked for a way to expand our network again. We knew that with Ceragon wecould meet today's demand and prepare for the future as 4G/LTE (News - Alert) becomes more widelyavailable."

Ceragon provides innovative, flexible and cost-effective wireless backhaul solutions that enable mobile operators and other wired/wireless service providers to deliver 2G/3G, 4G/LTE and other broadband services to their subscribers. Ceragon's high-capacity, solutions use microwave technology to transfer voice and data traffic while maximizing bandwidth efficiency, to deliver more capacity over longer distances under any deployment scenario.

In related news, Ceragon recently reported GAAP net loss of $2.7 million, or $0.07 per basic share and diluted share, for the third quarter of 2012 ending September 30. This was an improvement over a GAAP net loss of $6.7 million, or $0.19 per share, in Q3 2011.
