Wavefront, Canada's Center of Excellence for Wireless Commercialization and Research, has partnered with the National Research Council of Canada's Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) to launch a campaign that subsidizes access to wireless expertise and services.

According to Wavefront, these services help in improving the growth and commercialization of Ontario-based SMEs, who are installing wireless products or services.

When it comes to research and development, The NRC is the Government of Canada's premier organization. To take research impacts from the lab to the marketplace, NRC partners with Canadian industry.

This market-driven focus provides innovation faster, improves people's lives and caters to some of the world`s most pressing problems.

In Partnership with NRC-IRAP, The Wavefront Acceleration Program enables SMEs to access various basic services that consist of business advisory support from experienced wireless industry professionals, international market linkages and advanced wireless product development and testing infrastructure – as well as wireless training programs and events.

Ottawa-based Flick Software recently gained access to the funding, support and features required to create a complete mobile Web solution for their clients under the Wavefront Acceleration Program with NRC-IRAP, the company stated.

Hélène Joncas, vice president of Wavefront's Eastern Region, added, “Thanks to the NRC-IRAP, Wavefront has been able to subsidize fundamental services that are catalysts in accelerating the commercialization of small wireless companies across Ontario. As we have seen with Flick Software, this is already resulting in impressive growth.”

Recently, the association announced that Canadian government awarded funding with the help of the Global Opportunities for Associations (GOA) program. With this package, Wavefront will take more than 50 Canadian wireless companies to international events and market entry missions in important markets across Europe, the Middle East, South America, Africa and Asia by the end of 2012.
