Toshiba (News - Alert) Corporation, a global leader and Tech giant, has created and is now distributing a smartphone app for "FlashAir" – an SDHC memory card with embedded wireless LAN functionality. This app by Toshiba simplifies and enhances wireless data transfer between smartphones and "FlashAir."
"FlashAir" was launched in March 2012 in Japan and is currently available free of charge through Google (News - Alert) Play for Android devices. It is an SDHC Memory Card that incorporates a wireless LAN chip set equipped with an antenna for wireless communications, and is a very popular with the Japanese. The Card enables wireless sharing and transfers of photos from digital cameras to smartphones and tablets.
The wireless function can be switched on only to prevent wasteful power consumption of the battery.
The card facilitates Data sharing by multiple connections simultaneously, and the Access Point (News - Alert), created by FlashAir, can be accessed by several remote hosts at the same time.
The iOS version of the app is likely to be launched next spring. This app makes wireless connections between the SDHC memory card and Android (News - Alert) devices a lot easier. The list of all the folders and files stored on the card are displayed via the app and they can be accessed and downloaded selectively or in batches via wireless.
