ADTRAN Expands its Suite of High-performance Bluesocket Access Points

ADTRAN, Inc recently announced that its newly expanded family of high-performance Bluesocket (News - Alert) Access Points (APs) will now enable optimization of vWLAN for an extensive array of applications for service providers and enterprise customers.

In a statement, Mads Lillelund (News - Alert), general manager for ADTRAN’s Bluesocket Business Division, said that, “ADTRAN is continuously evolving and advancing the Bluesocket platform to deliver first-class wireless solutions for next-generation networks. The Bluesocket portfolio of access points will allow users to build a wireless network that optimizes coverage, capacity and throughput, accelerates support for emerging mobile devices and networking trends while at the same time meeting very specific business needs, goals and budget.”

The newly developed Bluesocket 1900 series of intelligent access points not only ensure a simplified and secure deployment, but also come with a “plug-and-play” capability which mitigates the need for any manual configuration. These access points can support an extensive number of indoor and outdoor deployment environments thanks to their advanced security capabilities and high reliability.

Bluesocket 1900 series access points work with the advanced Bluesocket vWLAN solution to optimize Wi-Fi networking as it uses network virtualization and centralizing control over a virtual machine instead of a physical device. Enterprise customers can thus run multiple WLANs as a single network with private cloud control. Service providers can run vWLAN in a public cloud where the user control and network management is hosted for the enterprise customers.

The suite of Bluesocket access points support the following Wi-Fi deployment scenarios. They are BYOD in the Enterprise to ensure greater capacity, scalability and security for the large number of personal devices on the enterprise network; E-learning for K-12 and higher education allowing for safe and secure learning environment; for rugged and high density scenarios which include lobbies, cafeterias and office buildings, stadiums, playfields; for small and medium size enterprise customers enabling simplified and cost-effective wireless deployment; and for locations anywhere across the globe. The suite of Bluesocket access points can also be used by MSPs and for supporting mobile data offload and backhaul for service providers.
