Cypress Semiconductor has announced that the company’s 2.4-GHz WirelessUSB-NL radio-on-a-chip has been selected by ITON Technology, Ltd for its complete module for wireless mice.
WirelessUSB NL (CYRF8935) is a third-generation 2.4 GHz low-power RF technology. WirelessUSB NL offers the lowest total solution BOM, low-power and best-in-class wireless performance for medium-range wireless solutions like HID, remote control applications, and Cypress's enCoRe family of USB and wireless microcontrollers.
The module provided by Cypress consists of firmware, which allows users to get a turnkey solution and produce their own end-products. WirelessUSB-NL solution also boasts low power consumption, assisting the module and enabling mice to operate for up to three years on two AA batteries.
WirelessUSB-NL also provides a long operating range of up to 20 meters. To offer a complete solution for wireless mice, the ITON module brings together a sensor and Cypress’s enCoRe V low-voltage companion microcontroller.
It also delivers an enCoRe II microcontroller for the USB dongle.
The technical team at Cypress has worked with ITON to speed development and cut time to market, the company has stated.
“ITON’s module offers a complete solution for wireless mice leveraging the combination of our WirelessUSB-NL and enCoRe products,” said Jayant Somani, senior director of worldwide marketing for Cypress’s Data Communication Division. “The design demonstrates the industry-leading battery life, noise immunity, and extended range of Cypress’s portfolio for Human Input Devices.”
In 2010, the company announced accurate passive stylus support for capacitive touchscreen technology. Cypress’s TrueTouch touchscreen solution transforms the stylus market for the next generation of capacitive touchscreen phones with a 1-mm accurate tip. This enables users to get additional levels of accuracy and control for text entry, keyboard, handwriting recognition and other productive functions for mobile applications.
This high level of accuracy of the company’s stylus support will provide the feature to change various markets.
