ITON Selects Cypress's 2.4-GHz WirelessUSB-NL Radio-on-a-Chip for Wireless Mice

Cypress Semiconductor has announced that the company’s 2.4-GHz WirelessUSB-NL radio-on-a-chip has been selected by ITON Technology, Ltd for its complete module for wireless mice.

In WirelessUSB, Cypress brings together its enCoRe family of USB along with wireless microcontrollers to provide reduced power consumption. It also provides improved wireless performance for solutions like HID, remote control applications, etc.

In telecommunications, frequency drift is caused by the arbitrary offset of an oscillator because of its nominal frequency. This may happen because of the temperature and this temperature can create various problems for the users.

Because of its low active and standby current (less than 1 uA), the WirelessUSB-NL device reduces signal frequency drift and provides highly dependable radio performance. It also offers longer range operation because of its -87 dBm (News - Alert) receive sensitivity.

Cypress has stated that the company’s technical support team has been in touch with ITON to speed development and reduce its time to market.

“ITON’s module offers a complete solution for wireless mice leveraging the combination of our WirelessUSB-NL and enCoRe products,” said Jayant Somani, senior director of worldwide marketing for Cypress’s Data Communication Division. “The design demonstrates the industry-leading battery life, noise immunity, and extended range of Cypress’s portfolio for Human Input Devices.”

In 2010, the company announced accurate passive stylus support for capacitive touchscreen technology. Cypress’s TrueTouch touchscreen solution transforms the stylus market for the next generation of capacitive touchscreen phones with a 1-mm accurate tip. This enables users to get additional levels of accuracy and control for text entry, keyboard, handwriting recognition and other productive functions for mobile applications. This high level of accuracy of the company’s stylus support will provide the feature to change various markets.
