Fiber access technology expert and wholly-owned subsidiary of Communications Systems (News - Alert), Transition Networks, today made it known that it is in the first round of carrier Ethernet vendors to receive MEF CE 2.0 certification for its S3280 intelligent Ethernet demarcation service.
The S3280 is the foundational product in the company's portfolio, developed specifically with CE 2.0 services compliance in mind.
As such, the service simplifies the ability for services providers to deploy new services for business Ethernet, cloud service delivery, wholesale Ethernet and mobile backhaul applications.
CE 2.0 compliance testing and certification for the S3280 was conducted by Iometrix (News - Alert), the official MEF certification test lab, consisting of a number of test cases. The MEF Carrier Ethernet Certification Program is meant to ensure global equipment and services comply with MEF (News - Alert) standards, making interoperability easier.
Version 2.0 of the Carrier Ethernet Certification Program extends the original purpose of the program with vital added features, including multiple classes of service, greater manageability and easier interconnect for eight standard service types. This enables greater levels of efficiency for mobile backhaul, while making it easier for more access providers to join the carrier Ethernet community.
"Transition Networks (News - Alert) continues to develop leading edge products for service providers that enable them to streamline Ethernet services for business and mobile backhaul applications within a highly reliable environment," said Kevin Faulds, director of Product Management at Transition Networks, in a statement. "Transition Networks is honored to be among the first vendors to achieve the CE 2.0 certification, further showing our commitment to Carrier Ethernet and leading industry organizations like the MEF."
Back in November, Transition Networks released its highly anticipated Converge Element and Service Management System, an intelligent, highly scalable, carrier-grade solution for simplifying the management and service providing of the company's carrier Ethernet products.
Around that time, Transition partnered with Amartus to co-develop a comprehensive carrier grade service aware management system powered by the Amartus Chameleon OS platform.
