Kaelus, a designer and manufacturer of RF and microwave solutions for the wireless telecommunications sector, today launched the iPA Series PIM Test Analyzer, which the company says is the next generation in its line of industry-leading Passive Intermodulation (PIM) test equipment.
Designed for versatility, the iPA is the first battery-powered PIM Text Analyzer capable of supporting test scenarios such as testing at the top of a tower.
The iPA is IEC (News - Alert) compliant, highly portable, rugged and reliable. It features a protected touchscreen interface for local control and an iPad Mini for remote control, enabling hands-free testing to enable easier and more efficient portable field testing.
Other features include a lightweight design, powerful reporting capabilities and multiple measurement modes, including PIM vs. frequency, PIM vs. time, spectrum monitoring and PIM and return loss on a single chart displayed on a unique overlay.
“As the industry leader in PIM test equipment we have again delivered an innovative solution that is several steps ahead of what is in the market today,” said Jacqui McLaughlin, president of Kaelus, in a statement. “The iPA is the first piece of PIM test equipment that is sufficiently rugged and yet lightweight enough to use at the top of a tower while flexible enough to support the testing of in-building DAS systems.”
At launch, the iPA is available in four models which address major frequency ranges — 850 MHz, EGSM900, DCS1800 and PCS — though more frequency bands will follow.
Kaelus was recently recognized by Frost & Sullivan with the 2012 Global Market Share Leadership Award in Passive Intermodulation Test Equipment for capturing the highest market share in its industry.
Indeed, Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) estimate that Kaelus' revenue in the PIM text equipment market to be over five times that of its closest competitor. This is largely due to a number of factors, namely the company's large PIM test product portfolio.
