ZyXEL Communications (News - Alert), a provider of secure broadband networking, Internet access, connected home and routing products, unveiled the PLA4231 dual function Powerline Adapter and 802.11n Wireless Extender.
Steven Joe (News - Alert), executive vice president for channel business for Americas at ZyXEL said, “The new PLA4231 offers consumers enhanced functionality and value, as it not only extends ZyXEL’s industry-leading line of Powerline appliances, but extends any Powerline-based home network.”
Specializing in IP technology, ZyXEL provides multi-service LTE (News - Alert), fiber and DSL broadband gateways, home connectivity solutions and Wi-Fi equipment, besides others to small and medium-sized businesses.
According to officials, the PLA4231 is powered with 500Mbps Powerline and 300Mbps Wi-Fi technology, which can deliver wireless connectivity across the entire home or small office through a Powerline connection.
The new device can easily connect with a power outlet, extending the existing high-definition Powerline network and extending the wireless connectivity in the home or office as well. The device features two Ethernet ports which deliver Internet access for HDTVs, Blu-Ray players, DVRs, PCs and game consoles.
Streaming videos, playing games and Internet browsing on tablets, laptops or smartphones from any location, anywhere within the house, is made easy by the device’s dual functionality feature.
“The dual function adapter allows consumers to enjoy HD media streaming over Powerline as well as the mobile convenience the built in 802.11n wireless connectivity provides,” Joe added.
Also featured are better Quality of Service capabilities, which make the ZyXEL’s PLA4231 enhance the streaming quality of multimedia applications. Connection to wireless devices also becomes easy through the use of a setup wizard and WPS button. Security in wireless transmission is ensured by a 128-bit Advanced Encryption Security feature.
This and WPA2 standard operations further improve security for Wi-Fi traffic.
Lantiq, a supplier of broadband access and home networking technologies, announced with ZyXEL Communications that the fixed LTE5121 multi-service gateway now supports VoLTE.
VoLTE, or voice over long-term evolution, is a standard used for delivering voice and messaging for LTE networks. It is being deployed by global wireless operators to supplement LTE networks.
