Millimeter-waves help in developing the operating frequency for numerous well-developed applications. They also provide enhanced resolution and directivity for various products.

Companies are increasingly using this technology because of their salient features and lower cost of deployment.

Infonetics (News - Alert) Research has released a report on the Millimeter Wave Equipment market, in which it states that that the industry is slated to double this year. The company states LTE (News - Alert) Backhaul and BridgeWave as the reason behind this phenomenal growth.

According to Infonetics, the worldwide market for millimeter wave equipment will grow up to $600 million by 2017. According to the company, BridgeWave (News - Alert) will be the firm that will ride on this new wave.

BridgeWave took the lion’s share in the millimeter wave market in 2012.

But the competition is heating up for BridgeWave in this arena. Infonetics Research has noted that companies like Aviat Networks, Ericsson, Fujitsu (News - Alert) and Huawei have realized the potential of this market and are set to launch their millimeter wave products in the coming years.

The company had given similar predictions for LTE market as well. In another published report, company researchers stated that the LTE market will nearly double in the year 2012.

“An increasing number of mobile operators are deploying millimeter wave to augment their existing microwave macrocell backhaul deployments,” noted Richard Webb, directing analyst for microwave and carrier Wi-Fi at Infonetics Research (News - Alert). “The enhanced capacities made possible by millimeter wave are proving to be a viable solution for backhaul in metro areas where range limitations aren’t always problematic. The market is on track to more than double this year, followed by continued healthy growth going forward.”

The company recently released another survey where it state that SIP trunking was gaining in popularity among companies, and was ready to overtake T1 in just a few years.
