Google YouTube Music Key Music Service Nearing Launch

Google (News - Alert) has been working hard over the last few months to forge an identity as a company that belongs in the music streaming business. First the company laid out quite a bit of money to purchase what could have been a stout competitor in Songza. New leaks have shed some light on Google’s new streaming music service is going to work. Dubbed YouTube Music Key, the service will have more than 20 million songs in its library.

Early reports indicate that YouTube (News - Alert) Music Key will have a slate of features that could make Google a real player in the streaming music industry. Among those features appears to be the ability to ad-free and offline playback. The 20 million songs that are going to be in the library seems to indicate that Google has definitely ramped up its approach when it comes to this service.

The music will apparently feature full albums that are organized into artists discographies. It also seems as if the silver bullet, when it comes to making YouTube Music Key a real power in the industry is that it will be offering music that isn’t available anywhere else. This is a distinct difference from services like Spotify (News - Alert). Concert footage, cover songs and remixes will all be exclusively offered on the service.

Google is said to be offering a 30-day free trial of YouTube Key Music and after that trial period, the service will cost about $9.99 a month. The service will also tie into the Google Play Music service that is already up and running.

Google will be making this service available through the web browser on people’s computers as well as through smartphones, tablets and Google’s Chromecast stick. Google hasn’t said exactly when this service will be officially unleashed on the public, but these kinds of leaks seem to indicate that it will be available sooner rather than later.
