Infor Upgrades ERP SyteLine Solution Anchored on its Infor Open SOA

Software developer Infor today announced an enhanced version of its Infor ERP SyteLine, an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution anchored on Infor Open SOA and designed as an event-driven service-oriented architecture (SOA) that leverages industry standard business language to distribute data between Infor solutions and other systems.

The Infor ERP SyteLine is used worldwide by more than 3,000 discrete manufacturers, according to the company.

The Infor ERP SyteLine allows manufacturers to acquire business-specific functionality as a service delivered by Infor and offers a SaaS (News - Alert) pricing model for customers looking to choose a monthly subscription with a "low start-up costs or a traditional license model."

"New features in ERP SyteLine deliver powerful new functionality to an already dynamic system, making it an even stronger tool for manufacturers," said Kevin Piotrowski, director of discrete solution marketing.

Those features include support for Infor MyDay, a dynamic Web 2.0 user interface for Infor applications that provides central access to the critical information for users, enhanced customer relationship management (CRM) functionality and improved event management (EM).

"A critical enhancement to the solution is Infor MyDay, which takes ERP to the next level by delivering users more relevant data directly to their desktops, based on their individual roles at the company," said Piotrowski.

As TMCnet reported last year, Infor first announced the SaaS Option for ERP SyteLite in October.

Through Infor Open SOA, customers can add Infor, third-party and in-house software applications without the need to "rip-and-replace" software or interrupt other systems during operations.

In particular, the SOA allows future component-based enhancements to Infor solutions to be delivered in a non-disruptive manner, easing the implementation process for future technology integrations, according to Piotrowski.

Because Infor MyDay takes large amounts of business data captured and stored by ERP SyteLine – in addition to other business applications – it is capable of providing pertinent information in a single view to employees based on their roles within the organization, it sets relevant data free so that decision-makers can respond quickly.

Previously, ERP solutions did not allow for users to easily access and analyze data that was often trapped in information silos or documents in the system.

The information can help manufacturers improve cash flow, boost profits, reduce operating expenses, improve product quality, increase revenue, and speed time to correct problems. Infor MyDay is provided at no additional charge to companies running ERP SyteLine 8.01 and higher with active maintenance plans.

"As an Infor channel partner, we work closely with our ERP SyteLine customers to ensure they take full advantage of the capabilities to increase customer satisfaction, plan and schedule orders, improve quality, increase forecasting speed and accuracy, minimize errors, and reduce inventory levels and shortages," said Ken Liesegang, president of RSVP Business Systems.

New to ERP SyteLine's core functionality is additional CRM capability to help manufacturers optimize customer relationships through the integration of marketing, sales and service. With this functionality built directly into the solution, companies can update information stored in the system to manage prospects and sales contacts. With greater visibility and access to customer information, users of ERP SyteLine are able to expand their marketing and lead generation opportunities and create new revenue for the company.

"With the addition of Infor MyDay and expanded CRM and event management functionality, this release demonstrates Infor's continued commitment to advance the core ERP SyteLine application," said Liesegang.

Other aspects of the ERP SyteLine 8.01 that executives of the Georgia company are accentuating are features improved event management for manufacturers. Event management enables companies to respond to events as they occur, or fail to occur, so that immediate action can be taken and productivity and profitability remain high.

This, says the company, provides workflow, automation and real-time response to changing conditions within ERP SyteLine. For example, an alert could notify an inventory manager when inventory of a particular item falls below a predetermined quantity.
