Unified communication solutions vendor Inx Inc reportedly announced that it acquired application integration company VocalMash in a stock deal worth about $300,000.
Houston-based Inx said it purchased the VocalMash group for 60,000 shares of Inx common stock.
VocalMash is a business communications systems application integration company that started as a development project with Cisco Systems Inc. The company uses Web 2.0 technologies to integrate unified communications systems with other enterprise applications.
The data center provider said the acquisition closed Dec. 4.
Inx also says it’s agreed to pay VocalMash an additional $380,000 if it meets performance goals over the next year.
For Inx, this is the second acquisition in a short span of time after it acquired NetTeks Technology Consultants Inc. for about $4.3 million.
Following the acquisition of VocalMash, Inx is likely to embark on a string of system integration programs.
“Cisco’s (News - Alert) recent release of UC manager 7.0 with an open Application Programming Interface will increase the requests for application integration. There will also be many new opportunities for integrating video and web-based collaboration applications into customer’s existing applications to improve functionality with communications,” Inx said, hinting its next move.
Integration of unified communications systems to enterprise applications, such as enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management applications provide significant efficiencies and enhance customer experience.
The demand for such integration is increasing with the introduction of converged voice and data systems.
“This talented group will assist INX (News - Alert) in providing much tighter integration of our core unified communications solutions. Collaboration is changing the way companies are using their critical applications and the merging or mashing of multiple applications into single system is a capability that is much more easily achieved when voice and data systems are on the same IT infrastructure platform,” said Mark Hilz, President and COO of INX.
The VocalMash group is currently comprised of a small development group.
INX Inc. offers a suite of technology solutions focused around the life-cycle of enterprise IP network communications and data center infrastructure.
