Terremark Upgrades its Enterprise Cloud Computing Platform

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

Terremark Worldwide, Inc. providing managed IT infrastructure services has upgraded its Enterprise Cloud computing platform. The new features include Dynamic Capacity Management, which allow Enterprise Cloud customers more flexibility in accessing on-demand computing capacity.

Dynamic Capacity Management offers a flexible “burst mode” for Enterprise Cloud-based computing environments. This helps clients access more computational power. This feature required during processing and memory resources offers real-time access to more computing capacity. Clients can now address transient spikes flexibly during usage.

“With the enhancements we are introducing, The Enterprise Cloud has taken the next step in offering increased control of IT environments to our customers,” said Randy Rowland, General Manager of Managed Hosting Services for Terremark. “The Enterprise Cloud’s combination of highly scalable, dedicated cloud-based resources with a real-time burst mode gives the enterprise a more agile and economic IT engine than ever before.”

Brian Corrigan, CTO of Agora Games noted that the flexibility of increasing the computing resources with a burst of speed according to the business helps optimize performance of the IT environment. The Enterprise Cloud is a reliable and dynamic platform and is expected to become more efficient with upgrades like Dynamic Capacity Management being incorporated into it.

Terremark’s Enterprise Cloud is powered by its Infinistructure computing platform. It makes use of Terredata’s data centers and diverse network connectivity. The Enterprise Cloud is a Web application enabling customers to provision servers from a pool of dedicated computing resources.

Servers can be configured and provisioned and then grouped and organized according to the function. Several pre-configured server roles across Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows, Linux and Sun Solaris operating systems are available. More than 160 global carriers have provided plug-and-play bandwidth on demand. Besides, the portal also has a reporting interface which gives details of resource use and application performance.

Manuel D. Medina, Chairman and CEO of Terremark said, “We have remained on the cutting edge of the enterprise cloud computing market by continuing to offer services and features that meet the needs of our customers. The Enterprise Cloud’s Dynamic Capacity Management provides our customers with the ultimate in flexible cloud computing, a platform that reacts to their business needs on a real-time basis.”

Terremark Worldwide (News - Alert) provides infrastructure services delivered on an advanced technology platform. The company offers a comprehensive suite of managed solutions including managed hosting, collocation, disaster recovery, security and cloud computing services to government agencies and enterprises.
