In an effort to offer more comprehensive applications development services to its customers, NWN Corporation recently acquired ComFrame, an international application development firm and one of the 37 nationally managed Microsoft system integrators.
According to the industry experts, the acquisition will enable NWN (News - Alert) to join the elite club of premier companies capable of providing a full range of solutions, including application development services, to midmarket commercial and public sector customers.
In business for 13 years and with offices in Birmingham, Ala., Nashville, Tenn. and Beijing, China, ComFrame earned distinction for its range of robust custom development solutions.
A Microsoft (News - Alert) Gold partner, ComFrame is known for its considerable Java programming expertise. Its clients include 300 companies in the southeastern and central United States.
With the acquisition of ComFrame, NWN can now leverage the company’s China based off-shoring capabilities. With this, NWN gains the kind of capabilities that are required to deliver application development and deployment services to the bigger global systems integrators.
In addition, the acquisition enables NWN to combine a suit of services including strategic consulting, application development and deployment, and 24/7 support in a single comprehensive package offering its customers a complete solution to their business problems, said the company.
“This makes us one of the more substantial applications development services companies in the business, and one of the few focused on both the commercial midmarket and public sectors,” NWN CEO Mont Phelps explained in a release.
ComFrame CEO Marc Guthrie said in a statement: “ComFrame has built a model that allows us to provide high value solutions-based services to our clients across the Southeast. We are looking forward to the opportunity to expand this offering throughout the NWN customer base. NWN's customer-first philosophy matches with ours and that was a major driver for getting this done.
He added, “After meeting with the NWN management team, it was clear to me that ComFrame's current customers would continue to receive excellent service and benefit from the additional corporate offerings.”
In addition to the news of this acquisition, NWN announced a vertical consulting group. Jane Linder (News - Alert), the managing director of the company, is going to oversee the new vertical solutions group chartered with sharpening the company's focus on health care, education, state and local government and midsized banks/credit unions.
