Virtela, an NTT (News - Alert) Communications company providing enterprise networking and virtualized IT services, was recently named a Gold Winner of the 11th Annual International Business Awards (Stevies) for Customer Service Department of the Year -- Telecommunications. Virtela (News - Alert) has won the award for second year in a row.
The company, which delivers services via its Virtualized Overlay Network and Virtela Enterprise Services Cloud (ESC (News - Alert)) platform, said 95 percent of its customers were satisfied with its overall performance. Moreover, 97 percent of customers were happy with the company’s technical operations staff based in three Global Operation Centers (GOCs).
According to the company, the networking and virtualized IT services from Virtela give enterprises the benefit of "asset-light" software-defined networking that delivers up to 80 percent cost savings in upfront capital and 30 percent savings in ongoing operating expenses. The company’s virtualized overlay networking integrates 1,000+ local and regional network providers, giving them flexibility, resiliency, and greater geographic reach.

Presented by TMC's Internet Telephony Magazine (News - Alert) and SDN Zone, the awards recognize companies that are leading the way in SDN architecture and applications.
Virtela was specifically recognized by TMC (News - Alert) for creating an innovative use case, applying SDN technology beyond the typical 'storage and compute' use case to the Wide Area Network (WAN).
