Westcon Group to Distribute Polycom's Collaboration and Videoconferencing Solutions to Canadian Resellers

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Westcon Group, Inc. is looking to distribute Polycom's (News - Alert) Collaboration and videoconferencing solutions to Canadian resellers.

As per the announcement, Westcon Canada would now support its Canadian resellers with a full line of collaboration and video conferencing solutions from Polycom.

Westcon Group, Inc. is one of the leading specialty distributors in networking, security, mobility and convergence for leading technology vendors, including Cisco (News - Alert), Nortel and Avaya, Inc.

Through its Westcon, Comstor and Voda One business practices, Westcon Group sells products and services to resellers, systems integrators and service providers.

Westcon Group has particular expertise in the convergence of voice, data and video applications and technologies, including voice-over Internet protocol, or VoIP, security for networking and communications systems, remote access, Internet and e-business, virtual private networks, videoconferencing and wireless connectivity.

The move follows Westcon Group's recent acquisition of ReView Video, which made Westcon Group one of the largest distributors of Polycom solutions in the world.
Westcon Canada now carries Polycom's entire product line, including its ubiquitous SoundStation conference phones, its SoundPoint IP VoIP desktop phones, its UltimateHD video collaboration systems, and its telepresence portfolio: the RPX HD (RealPresence Experience) and TPX HD (Telepresence (News - Alert) Experience).
Polycom's products adhere to an open-standards philosophy, enabling them to complement a wide array of networking and security solutions from Cisco, Avaya (News - Alert), Nortel and other manufacturers.
"By extending our relationship with Polycom into Canada, we are able to close many more VoIP, audio and video-related opportunities for our resellers," commented Lynn Smurthwaite-Murphy, vice president and general manager, Convergence (News - Alert), Westcon North America in a press release.
"The in-country resources we provide in combination with Polycom solutions -- such as ConvergencePoint and our professional services offerings -- will help our resellers build and maintain a competitive advantage."
Jack Shemavon, vice president of Polycom Canada, added, "We look forward to expanding our successful relationship with Westcon into the Canada market. Westcon is positioned to help VARs capitalize on collaboration opportunities, which are both socially and business-driven enabling companies to multiply their efficiency and productivity in an age of remote workers, global customers and suppliers, as well as increasingly reduced lead-times."
"We are pleased to see Westcon Canada become a Polycom distributor since this represents an opportunity for us to bring collaboration solutions to more customers," commented Norman Beauchamp, sales director of CEV, Inc., a Montreal-based reseller specializing in VoIP.
"Polycom's solutions are easy to deploy, manage and use and are very relevant to verticals such as education, healthcare and government."
