A Chicago-based telecommunications equipment and solutions provider is expanded its services in Latin American and the Caribbean with a new hire.
Telcom-Data, Inc. recently announce that Nicholas Armstrong has joined the company as director of sales for Latin America and the Caribbean. In his new role, Armstrong is responsible for developing all the company’s activities in Latin America, including new business development, sales channel building, as well as creating and executing long-term revenue growth plans to boost market leadership.

Armstrong is also in charge of building brand awareness throughout the region, company officials said.

“Nicholas brings a strong background in developing and growing sales throughout Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Ricardo Trinidad, president and CEO of Telcom-Data, in a statement. “We are excited to have him on-board and are confident that his talent and experience will be invaluable in strengthening our position throughout the market.”
Armstrong’s hiring comes as the Telcom & Data looks to grow its conference phone services in Latin America. The region is made up of several of the world’s fastest growing countries in the telecom industry. For example, Latin America Telecommunication Industry Report found that the region's broadband market grew at 54 percent over the last five years.
What’s more, a growing push for businesses to use videoconferencing systems rather than travel for corporate meetings, telecom markets in Latin American countries, especially Brazil, Mexico and Peru, are expected to report healthy gains this year, according to the report.
Conference phones are an important tool for businesses today. At a time when companies are slashing travel budgets and cutting costs, organizations are increasingly relying on audio conferencing Web conferencing systems to communication with remote or distant employees and clients to keep their operations going.
One tool that has especially been useful with conference phones is a VoIP phone system. As TMCnet reported, VoIP conferencing is particularly helpful for small and mid-sized businesses because the cost to deploy the solution is small. Another advantage is that VoIP business phone systems are flexible and can accommodate large number of connections efficiently, company officials said.
