DIDX Podcast: Jim Van Meggelen Highlights Asterisk Book Sequel

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

As part of the company’s move to highlight industry leaders, movers and shakers, and every day IP communications entrepreneurs, Pensacola, Florida-based DIDXchange (News - Alert) has announced a new podcast to their library.

DIDX is a registered and patented service of Super Technologies Inc., and provides Direct Inward Dialing or “DID” phone numbers to IP communications companies.
During the podcast, Suzanne Bowen, vice president of marketing at Super Technologies (News - Alert), DIDX and Techistan, chats with Jim Van Meggelen, president and chief technology officer of Core Telecom Innovations, a Canadian-based provider of open-source telephony solutions, regarding his role in the open source marketplace and the sequel to “Asterisk (News - Alert), Future of Telephony,” which Van Meggelen co-authored with Leif Madsen and Jared Smith.
Van Meggelen told Bowen that the book “went together really well” as the writers complimented one another in terms of skills and abilities. And he revealed that they will begin working on the third edition of the book.
“Frankly the current version of the book is really out of date... It has been translated into several languages including Russian, German and English. It did take an enormous amount of effort among developer contributors and the authors to create it. We are working on the third edition,” Van Meggelen said.
With the latest work, Van Meggelen noted, they are encouraging people who want to help out with technical reviews and for members of the worldwide audience to comment on the relevancy of their work from their countries' technology and regulatory space.
Bowen commented on Van Meggelen's popularity as an entertaining and informative speaker at global events. One of the many interesting topics 'Why the World Doesn't Love Technology as Much as you Do,' at an Ecomm event has a video clip on Youtube.
In addition to this podcast series, Bowen will also be interviewing a number of companies to create a database of IP communications companies that offer in-kind and financial support for nonprofit organizations including Activeport, Ingate, Global Crossing (News - Alert) and more.
Bowen can be reached via LinkedIn at  regarding donor IP communications companies and nonprofit organizations.
